Pearls of Wisdom

December 14, 2018

As a year draws to a close, one of my rituals is to look back at some of the lessons that I have learned. I find it valuable to reflect on how these lessons have guided me and shaped my intentions.  How they have influenced the ways in which I chose to invest my time and energy.

Earlier this year I was in a week long yoga intensive with my teacher Gloria Latham.  I have practiced with Gloria for over 10 years and have always appreciated her classes and the wisdom she shares as part of her teaching.

During this particular training she imparted three pearls of wisdom that resonated with me at the time and have continued to throughout 2018.

“Excuses are self abuses”

Yes.

“Your insecurities inhibit your success”

Yes.

“It takes as long as you NEED it to take”

Yes,

I had heard all of these concepts before, however I had needed years of experiential living (making excuses and feeding my insecurities) to fully understand the wisdom behind theses statements and recognize that it was time to walk the talk, believe in myself and honor the learning process that had taken it’s sweet time.

Are there any excuses that you are telling yourself?

Are there any insecurities that are no longer serving you on your path to where you want to go? How you want to live? How you want your daily life to feel?

Have you had the amount of time needed for you to recognize the excuses and insecurities that are standing in the way of how you want your life to feel?
