As I entered my thirties I was finding it increasingly more challenging to bring balance into my life without feeling overwhelmed by my never ending list of things to do each day.
I was in a consistent struggle of trying to fit everything and everyone in to my life. I valued my physical, mental, and emotional health but I wasn’t feeling truly healthy in any of those areas.
I was surviving, but I was not thriving.
Looking back now I can see that I was depleted and exhausted. Deep down I knew that I needed to make some changes but I wasn’t sure what exactly that could or should look like. So instead I began to focus on what I wanted my daily life to feel like.
I wanted a life that felt balanced, full and spacious. I wanted to wake up feeling rested, inspired, and energized to live my life to the fullest. I wanted to feel good.
Over the next couple of years I began to consciously curate my own lifestyle. Much like a gallery owner will mindfully choose to include certain works of art and arrange them in a particular way. I took ownership of my life and decided I wanted it to feel beautiful. I started to remove some aspects that I had previously prioritized and began adding daily rituals that helped me to achieve the overall feeling tone of balance and wellness to my life.
Through this process I discovered that there are five key components that I feel are essential to cultivating balance in my daily life:
Health ~ Prioritizing Nutrition, Exercise, and Rest every day.
Wealth ~ Awareness of how I invest and spend my time and energy
Growth ~ Reflection and Learning
Connection ~ To myself and those around me
Time Outside ~ Minimum of one hour each day
I am still in the process of curating my lifestyle in small ways, as I am constantly changing and growing. Each day is uniquely lived, although I ensure that I address each of the five components daily so that my needs are being met and I feel good.
There are many ways in which one can incorporate these five aspects depending on what is inspiring, manageable and feels authentic.
